The IRMM searchable catalogue contains information about the reference materials distributed by IRMM. You can browse the catalogue by matrix, analyte or application field. Certified values, certificates, certification reports and material safety data sheets where available can be accessed via the search interface.

On Sunday, 7 October 2007, the JRC Institute for Reference Materials and Measurements (IRMM), located in Geel, Belgium, will open its doors to the public during the Open Bedrijvendag of Flanders. Visitors will be able to visit laboratories, try experiments and attend presentations. The fire brigade from IRMM will also give demonstrations.

  5. 6 Dec 2007

The JRC Institute for Reference Materials and Measurements (IRMM) has introduced a new set of reference materials for testing maize line MON 810 genetically modified organisms (GMOs) in food and feed samples. These will be used by many control laboratories around the EU to measure the content of GMO crops in different samples. The reliability of those testing results is as important for the individual citizen as it is for trade and industry.

The use of a chemical marker that had been proposed by the JRC Institute for Reference Materials and Measurements (IRMM) for the reliable identification of animal by-products has become a compulsory standard in Europe. According to a Commission regulation published in December, glyceroltriheptanoate (GTH) has to be used as marker for those animal by-products that must not be used in animal nutrition.

  7. 14 Mar 2008

The JRC Institute for Reference Materials and Measurements (IRMM) was today awarded a triple integrated International Organisation for Standardisation (ISO) certification. Performed by TÜV NORD CERT (Germany), the inspections leading to the certifications highlight the excellence of IRMM's overall management system in meeting stringent international standards.

  8. 20 Jun 2008

A new collaboration agreement between the European Atomic Energy Community, represented by the JRC Institute for Reference Materials and Measurements (IRMM), and the Centre à Énergie Atomique (CEA, FR) will significantly advance cooperative research in domains of common interest: high level nuclear waste minimization and management, safety of advanced reactor concepts and fuel cycles and issues in basic nuclear science.

Uranium ‘double-spike’ isotopic reference material, IRMM-3636

New uranium spike isotopic reference materials, IRMM-3636, IRMM-3636a and IRMM 3636b with an isotope ratio 233U/236 U of 1:1 have been prepared and certified. This so-called “double spike” has been prepared by gravimetrical mixing of highly-enriched isotopes and verified by means of sophisticated mass spectrometry techniques.
