    Regional Experts Meeting on Non-proliferation Nuclear Forensics held in Hanoi 3-5 June 2014.

    The meeting on enhancing nuclear forensic capabilities in the South East Asian region, was hosted in Vietnam, co-organized by JRC-ITU.

    In the run up to Croatia's accession to the EU, which will take place on 1 July, the JRC has today organised an information day in Zagreb, in order to update the Croatian scientific and policy community about the different possibilities of cooperation with the European Commission's in-house science service.

    Cooperation is already on going and was presented during the event, in addition to the Croatian priorities in the area of science and innovation and some background information on how the JRC works with EU countries and research laboratories.

    A new test protocol for non-road mobile machinery (NRMM), developed by scientists at the JRC Institute for Environment and Sustainability (IES) in cooperation with experts from the United States and Japan, has been adopted as a global technical regulation by the United Nation’s Economic Commission for Europe (UN-ECE) World Forum for Harmonization of Vehicle Regulations (WP.29).

    Today the European Commission is launching Capacity4dev.eu, an interactive website aimed at improving Europe's development co-operation. Developed by the JRC Institute for Environment and Sustainability (IES) in close collaboration with the Commission's EuropeAid service, this web-based information system is set to become an essential tool in facilitating the technical cooperation between the European Institutions and all the stakeholders in developing countries.

    The European Commission, represented by the JRC, and the African Regional Centre for Mapping of Resources for Development (RCMRD), have today signed a Collaboration Agreement on scientific issues regarding land-cover dynamics. The two organisations aim to collaborate in the field of agriculture and land-cover monitoring to support food security and the management of natural resources in East Africa. European Commissioner for Science and Research, Janez Poto nik, and Uganda's Minister for Lands, Housing and Urban Development, Daniel Omara Atubo, witnessed the signature in Nairobi (Kenya).
