    ENCATC, the European network on cultural management and policy*, launches the call for applications for the 3rd ENCATC Research Award on Cultural Policy and Cultural Management (the JRC is a member of the Steering Committee of the Award).
     
    This annual award is granted to a recently published PhD thesis exploring, through comparative and cross-cultural research, issues at stake and taking a step from evaluative (descriptive) to comparative applied research.

    Seville, Rotterdam, Brno and Reggio Emilia will be the first four European cities to peer-review their cities' integrated urban development strategies. They will use the methodology developed by the Joint Research Centre for research and innovation Smart Specialisation strategies.

    On 20 November 2015, the European Commission has adopted Best Available Techniques (BAT) conclusions for the production of wood-based panels, following respective positives votes of the Regulatory Committee foreseen in Article 75 of the Industrial Emissions Directive (IED) 2010/75/EU. Wood-based panels are mainly used for furniture manufacture as well as in the construction and building sectors.

    The JRC was invited for the fifth consecutive year, by the Cornell University, INSEAD business school and the World Intellectual Property Organization to conduct thorough conceptual and statistical coherence tests on the Global Innovation Index (GII) to ensure its reliability and transparency and to help deriving more accurate and meaningful policy recommendations.
