    TU Delft's Faculty of Technology, Policy and Management (TPM)  and the JRC's Institute for Energy and Transport will intensify cooperation on research questions linked to the theme of energy transition as stated in a recently signed Letter of Intent. With this LoI JRC-IET and TPM further expand collaboration activities that already existed: exchanging PhD researchers, workshops, training and education.

    The 'Energy - Transparency Centre of Knowledge' (E-TRACK) is a joint initiative agreed between the Directorate General for Energy and the JRC for the promotion of public participation in the implementation of energy policies.

    In close collaboration with international nuclear research organisations, scientists from the JRC described a method to improve the analysis of cross section measurements at a cold neutron beam. This work is part of the JRC contribution to improve the accuracy of nuclear data, which are important for the development of innovative reactor systems.

    Scientists from the JRC-Institute for Reference Materials and Measurements (IRMM) developed and validated a new method for the determination of selected fatty acid methyl esters (FAMEs) or transesterification products in diesel. This method can serve as a reference, for example to solve disputes between control laboratories and to develop future certified reference materials.

    On 16 July, in Brussels, JRC and the European Green Vehicles Initiative Association (EGVIA) formalised a collaboration to advance methodologies for testing traction batteries for electric vehicles.

    A look towards 2050 – new energy technology indicators

     

    The JRC has published the first version of the report:  ETRI 2014 - Energy Technology Reference Indicator projections for 2010-2050. The indicators provide a set of techno-economic data to be used for evaluating the European energy system.

    On 11 December 2014, in Rome, the Joint Research Centre signed a Collaboration Agreement with the Italian RSE SpA (Ricerca sul Sistema Energetico). The signature ceremony took place at the 7th Strategic Energy Technology Plan (SET-Plan) conference.

    The European Commission’s Joint Research Centre and the Ministry of Energy and Industry of Albania held a joint workshop on the future role of energy storage in south-eastern Europe on the 21st and 22nd October in Tirana.
