FTA2018 - Call for contributions

The call for contributions is now closed. 

  • Are you developing new tools and frames to understand and experience the future?
  • Are you working at the intersection of foresight and other policy oriented methodologies or approaches?
  • Are you reflecting upon new ways to respond to the changing needs and challenges of policymaking and of policymakers?

We seek your proposal to contribute to the 2018 FTA 'Future in the Making' conference!

We notify all persons identified in proposals by March 26th, 2018.

Call for contributions – themes and strands

All contributions need to address one or several of the themes and will be organised in three strands.

Proposal submission requirements

The call for contributions is now closed.

Proposals can be made for

  • Individual presentations,
  • Hands-on sessions (workshop of 90 minutes) and/or for
  • Posters.

Abstracts submitted by other means will not be considered.

Proposals need to state which horizontal theme (People & Power, Policymaking & Practice and Perceptions & Potentials) their proposal is addressing.

Abstracts should include a clear description of the contribution to the

  • Selected strand
  • Methodological approach
  • Results and/ or impacts generated.

Selected presenters will have the opportunity to upload presentations on the conference website.

Visuals and presentation should follow predefined templates which will be provided once participation has been confirmed.

Individual presentations

  • A 500-word abstract.
  • A one-minute video presentations of the core ideas/findings (optional).

After your proposal has been accepted, a paper needs to be submitted.

This paper - together with the video - will be published on the conference website.

We currently explore publication of such papers in special issues of a peer-reviewed journals.

Hands-on sessions for the strand 'Experience & Explore'

  • A 750-word concept
    • Method/game,
    • Objective of the session,
    • Session design
    • Participants engagement concept
    • Policy issue it will be applied to.
  • A one-minute video presentation (optional)
    • Method/game
    • Objective
    • Policy issue it will be applied to.

If accepted the video will be published on the conference website.

Posters

  • a 500-word abstract for
    • A new method or tool responding to bridging the future with the present;
    • An organisation dealing with future oriented policy support;
    • Outcomes of a less than 6 months old project.
  • State clearly the theme [hyperlink]

The steering committee

The Steering Committee defines the thematic framework of the conference and establishes its programme.
