Food Futuring Tours is a participatory experience which aims at re-imagining food in the XXI century, collecting ideas, visions and imaginaries about the future of food and food of the future, and the possible social – inclusive of ethical and cultural aspects – and environmental impacts of them coming from the great Universal Exposition 2015 in Milan, entirely dedicated to the theme.
We live in an age when good policies are assumed to be evidence-based. And that evidential base is assumed to be at its best when expressed in numbers.
The digital information may be derived from quantitative data organised in statistics, or from qualitative data organised in indicators. Either way, evidence in digital form provides the accepted foundation of policy arguments over a very broad range of issues. In the policy realm there are frequent debates over particular policy issues and their associated evidence.
The theme of this 8th meeting will be agri-food, in line with Expo Milano 2015's theme "Feeding the planet, energy for life". Practical examples and innovative initiatives will be presented to illustrate the potential of technology transfer in this area.

This hands-on course will be looking at the practice of public engagement in Europe, and takes place in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Through a workshop taking place at the EU Pavillion of EXPO Milano, the JRC will showcase some of the outcomes of the development of an EMAS Sectoral Reference Document on Best Environmental Management Practice for the agriculture sector. This work, developed by the JRC over the past 2 years with the involvement of a large number of experts from the sector, describes best practices that the agricultural sector can implement to improve its environmental performance, and contribute to sustainable food production.
This hands-on course will be looking at the practice of public engagement in Europe, and takes place in Croatia.
The European Commission JRC-IPTS is organising the 5th European Conference on Corporate R&D and Innovation CONCORDi 2015 next 1-2 October 2015. The conference will focus on industrial research and innovation: evidence for policy. It will discuss the role of scientific analyses in the design and implementation of an EU industrial policy based on research, innovation and technological advancement.
