We are doing science for policy
The Joint Research Centre (JRC) is the European Commission's science and knowledge service which employs scientists to carry out research in order to provide independent scientific advice and support to EU policy.
The Austrian, German and Slovak Commissions for UNESCO are organising an international workshop entitled “Sustainability Science in Central and Eastern Europe”, to be held in Bratislava from 15-17 June this year.
The workshop aims to promote 'sustainability science' in Central and Eastern Europe (CEE), particularly in Austria, the Czech Republic, Estonia, Germany, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Slovakia and Slovenia.
IES Director Maria Betti has been invited to represent the European Commission, and to give a speech on what the IES is working on in terms of Sustainability Science, as well as on the topic of what opportunities the EU offers for intensified cooperation at the science/policy interface and in regional networking through Horizon 2020 and/or instruments of regional integration.
