The Joint Research Centre (JRC) is the European Commission's science and knowledge service which employs scientists to carry out research in order to provide independent scientific advice and support to EU policy.
The Enlargement and Integration (E&I) workshop brought together practitioners working in the field of data with emphasis on regional and urban development to discuss ways to better utilise recent developments in Europe, related to the establishment of open data infrastructures.
Best practices, associated with the use of data for the generation of sound knowledge on different levels (local, regional, national and international) were presented and discussed. Particular emphasis was put on Transferability and reusability of best practices, Networking and scoping of joint projects, and Capacity building
An introductory training session on data management and INSPIRE was offered to delegates.
