From polluting human activities to emission grid maps using the Emission Database for Global Atmospheric Research (EDGAR)

The objective of the workshop is to highlight the importance of the emissions distribution on the grid maps and to encourage interactions with the aim to enhance the countries’ capability to improve the reporting of gridded emission inventories under the Convention on Long-range Transboundary Air Pollution (UNCLRTAP, EMEP/EEA) and under Kyoto Protocol (UNFCCC).

The workshop will  include:

  • Overview of EDGAR in the broad context of existing emission inventories, including HTAP
  • EDGAR technology-based approach and emissions distribution methodology
  • Post-processing of emissions at available spatial and temporal resolution
  • Road transport, ship and aviation emissions consistently mapped using appropriate proxy data
  • GHG (F-gases) emissions and uncertainties
  • Practical applications
