We are doing science for policy
The Joint Research Centre (JRC) is the European Commission's science and knowledge service which employs scientists to carry out research in order to provide independent scientific advice and support to EU policy.
Agriculture and Food Security is one of the main priorities in the Mediterranean countries where crop production is highly dependent of rainfalls and importation becomes vulnerable to the extreme volatility of food commodity markets.
Timely and objective forecasts on crop production are indispensable to manage stocks, trade or to anticipate crisis.
The purpose of the present workshop is to bring together the crop monitoring community of practice from the 2 sides of the Mediterranean, to share the most recent results and achievements as well as to identify the future prospects in particular related to space policies.
