We are doing science for policy
The Joint Research Centre (JRC) is the European Commission's science and knowledge service which employs scientists to carry out research in order to provide independent scientific advice and support to EU policy.
Within the national framework for adoption of the Eurocodes, each country must elaborate maps for climatic and seismic actions for structural design. National choice, which should cover country particularities in climatic and seismic conditions, is allowed through 142 clauses in EN 1991 and EN 1998.
The Workshop is aimed at building capacities for elaboration of maps for climatic and seismic actions for structural design in non-EU countries in the Balkan region. It is organized by the JRC and hosted by the Croatian Standards Institute within the framework of the JRC Enlargement and Integration Action.
The Workshop is aimed at further adoption and implementation of the Eurocodes in the non-EU countries in the Balkan region. In particular, it is envisaged to serve the following main objectives:
