We are doing science for policy
The Joint Research Centre (JRC) is the European Commission's science and knowledge service which employs scientists to carry out research in order to provide independent scientific advice and support to EU policy.
The 6th International Summer School on Operational Issues in Radioactive Waste Management and Nuclear Decommissioning will take place from 8-12 September 2014.
The event is organised in co-operation with International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), the Milan State University (Università degli Studi di Milano) and the International Radiation Protection Association (IRPA).
Nuclear decommissioning is an important step in nuclear power plants' life cycle and a crucial factor in public acceptance of nuclear power generation. The participants of the course will be able to discuss issues directly with experts and other delegates, and have the opportunity to learn from their international experience. The course is organised around several technical sessions and will feature four visits to JRC-ISPRA's laboratories that are involved in decommissioning and nuclear and radioactive waste management. During these visits, participants will be invited to assist in some real measurements.
Registration is free and open to all through the JRC Event Registraion System
