The Joint Research Centre (JRC) is the European Commission's science and knowledge service which employs scientists to carry out research in order to provide independent scientific advice and support to EU policy.
The international Mediterranean City 2014 Conference is a Greek EU Presidency 2014 event under the auspices of the General Secretariat for Research & Technology (GSRT). It is organised by the European Commission, the Eurisy, the Mediterranean City Climate Change Consortium (MC‐4), the Mariolopoulos – Kanaginis Foundation for the Environmental Sciences and the Research Center for Climatology and Atmospheric Physics, Academy of Athens.
It aims to bring together attendees from various disciplines and countries to address the climate adaptation challenges that Mediterranean cities are facing, and to identify best practices and adaptation options exploring Earth Observations and their potential.
IES Head of Unit Alessandro Annoni has been invited to give a keynote speech, entitled 'GEO/GEOSS: millions of data including citizen observatories'.
