On 5 December the European Partnership for Alternative Approaches to Animal Testing (EPAA) holds its 12th Annual Conference focusing on the theme "Science-based regulation". The event will showcase EPAA's most recent achievements and discuss the state of the art in alternative methods available for regulatory purposes and the gaps toward full replacement.
MEP Françoise Grossetête (EP Vice-President) will give a talk on her vision for science-based regulation and a panel session, co-chaired by Maurice Whelan, head of EURL ECVAM, and Magda Chlebus, EFPIA, will discuss the scientific gaps towards full replacement of testing on animals. In addition, the winner of the EPAA 3Rs Science Prize will be announced and given the opportunity to present on her/his successful project.
