We are doing science for policy
The Joint Research Centre (JRC) is the European Commission's science and knowledge service which employs scientists to carry out research in order to provide independent scientific advice and support to EU policy.
The 10th annual SET Plan conference conjoined with the 11th Central European Energy Conference (CEEC XI), will be held under the auspices of the Estonian's EU Council Presidency, but organised by Slovakia. Thus, it will take place on 29 November – 01 December 2017 in Bratislava, as last year.
The conference will review the role of the SET Plan as the technological pillar of the EU energy policy, including its achievements over the last decade. It will examine the implementation process of the Energy Union with a special focus on the role of its Research and Innovation (R&I) dimension. In particular, it will assess the role of innovative low-carbon technologies in boosting European competiveness, progress in developing new technologies and smart energy systems for efficient use of energy as well as growing share of renewables in the primary energy consumption of EU member states. In addition, it will also evaluate the current trends in electro-mobility, safe utilisation of nuclear energy, enhanced energy storage, and many other topical issues for the transformation of the EU energy system. Finally, the conference will pay special attention to evaluation of the role of Central European member states, including their contribution to the implementation of the goals of the Energy Union and the Integrated SET Plan.
