Paz Fernández de Vera studied Law at the University of Oviedo. For 21 years she has been a Business and Entrepreneurship teacher in Vocational, Education and Training tracks. For many years she worked with International Trade students with whom she developed several European projects.
One of these projects, developed with her colleague Adela Ruiz, was awarded with a National Award for Quality and Innovation in VET Projects in 2011. In 2014 she created an on-line collaborative project with teachers Elena Rodríguez and Isabel González. This project, called “Selfie Emprendedor”, aims to connect students with local entrepreneurs so they can learn from them.
As a result more than 5,000 students and 5,000 entrepreneurs have already participated. She has designed classroom dynamics such as the “Creative Glasses challenge” that have been replicated in many schools at all educational levels. For the last 7 years she has been working with Beauty and Hairdressing students, most of them women, developing social innovation projects using emotions and disruptive thinking as catalysts.
The topics range from redesigning an abandoned public space and transforming it into a cultural initiative, to preventing gender violence abuse, advising local business, writing a book with stories of their clients in the hair salon or 3D printing.
