How to get to JRC-Ispra

Where we are

The JRC-Ispra site is situated in Ispra, Via Enrico Fermi 2749, 21027 Ispra (VA) Italy.

Ispra, located in the province of Varese in the Lombardy region, is a small town on the shore of Lake Maggiore. The nearest big city is Milan at some 60 km south-east of Ispra with a population of 1.3 million (4 million when including the urban area around the city).

The best way to access Ispra by air is via the Malpensa International Airport which is at some 30 km from JRC-Ispra, or Milano Linate at around 95 km.

Other airports which may be of use are Lugano (Agno) in Southern Switzerland, or Turin, Genoa and Orio al Serio (Bergamo) in Northern Italy.

Entrance and daily permit

In order to enter the JRC-Ispra, visitors should have a daily permit. Daily permits are issued following prior request by a JRC staff member and registration of the visitors in a security information system managing the workflow of daily permit requests.

Visitors entering JRC-Ispra also have to register any vehicle they use to enter the site.

A special entrance procedure is in place to facilitate the registration and entry on-site of big groups.
