Where should we look for best practices, inspiration and audience research?

Where should we look for best practices, inspiration and audience research?

As explained earlier, we need your help in designing a better community for #EU4Facts.

When we began the K4P project we looked for some audience research - what sort of website would best serve our two, very different audiences: scientists and policymakers? We didn’t find any, so we did our own (see Evidence-based policymaking: a story emerges from audience research), which the conversations here has complemented.

Still, there must be something out there we can learn from as we set out to build online communities on the K4P platform. Surely we're not the only organisation out there that’s done proper audience research into one or more of the following issues?
  • what do scientists want from a platform focused on evidence-informed policymaking?
  • what do policymakers want from a platform focused on evidence-informed policymaking?
  • what online community features do scientists or policymakers (or ideally both) prefer using?

So, can anyone point us to:

  • any relevant audience research?
  • the people you think might have it?
  • any relevant best practices – evidence-informed policymaking websites, online communities that you like and use, or anything else you think relevant (and why)?

Don’t forget our previous questions (they’re all here).

Hi. Maybe this is something interesting. Their role is to facilitate linkages between science, policy and society, through different actions on the field of biodiversity. They tried to create a platform for the network. Their experience might be useful. I am member of their Advsiroy Board. Happy to be in touch if you are interested to get more insight.
