ISA² Mid-Term Conference
The ISA² Mid-Term Conference: Linking Public Administrations, Businesses and Citizens was an event organised by the European Commission's ISA² Programme on 29 November 2018 at the cultural house Flagey in Brussels. The conference was opened by the EU Commissioner for Digital Economy and Society, Mariya Gabriel. The event gathered professionals from public administrations in EU countries and EU institutions, as well as from the private sector.
The ISA² Programme is running from 2016 to 2020 and therefore reaching its midway point. The event was an opportunity to discuss:
- what has been already achieved;
- the tasks for the upcoming years; and
- the future of the programme beyond 2020.
The conference presented the current state of the implementation of the new European Interoperability Framework. The EU Member States have committed to fulfil the vision laid out in the framework by signing the Tallinn Declaration on eGovernment. At the conference, Member Sates representatives shared good practices for the framework implementation.
The event also showcased interoperability solutions developed under the ISA² Programme so far. A session and a large exhibition of 17 stands was be dedicated to their presentation, as well as to use cases from the public and private sector.
The final part of the conference offered the opportunity to look at legal and organisational barriers to interoperability and to discuss the future of ISA² after 2020. According to the European Commission's proposal for the next Multiannual Financial Framework, the programme would be part of the first-ever Digital Europe Programme.
