Following a number of requests from citizens, the European Parliament and certain EU Member States, the Commission has launched a public consultation into the current EU summertime arrangements.

European citizens and stakeholders are invited to share their views on the matter by 16 August 2018.

This consultation is part of an assessment of the EU summertime directive, which the Commission has recently launched to evaluate whether or not the rules should be changed.

This follows the vote by the European Parliament of a resolution on summertime in February 2018, as well as requests from citizens and certain EU Member States.

The EU Summertime Directive states that summer-time must begin in all EU Member States at 1 a.m., GMT, on the last Sunday in March and end at 1 a.m., GMT, on the last Sunday in October.

The consultation and more background information are available here.
