Selection of a temporary staff - Adviser on Digital Agenda and Data Technologies

The European Commission is organising an external selection procedure to fill the post of Adviser on Digital Agenda and Data Technologies in the Directorate-General for International Partnerships attached to INTPA.F. The position is based in Brussels, Belgium.

Nature of duties

The responsibilities of the Adviser on Digital Agenda and Data Technologies include:

  • Providing expertise, policy advice and guidance to geographical and thematic units for formulation of strategies related to strengthening the capacity of partner countries to bridge the digital divide along democratic and economic principles and reap the benefits of digitalisation.
  • Contributing to promoting the EU values, standards and human-centric approach to digitalisation in partner countries and to strengthening their capacities related to access and use of space and data technologies for improved policy design and implementation.
  • Chairing the Project Team on Digital and Data Technologies that brings together relevant work and expertise from across the service.
  • Drafting and contributing to concept notes, high-level briefings and other policy documents related to policy design and implementation in the area of digital and data technologies.
  • Representing the Directorate General within and outside the Commission when needed.  Providing advocacy and communication of the work of DG INTPA in supporting partner countries in bridging the digital divide.

Type and duration of contract

The successful candidate may be offered a temporary contract under point (a) of Article 2 of the Conditions of Employment of Other Servants (CEOS) of the European Union in accordance with the Commission Decision of 16 December 2013 on policies for the engagement and use of temporary agents. The maximum duration of the initial contract will be four years, with the possibility of renewal for a maximum of two years.

The maximum duration of the contract will also take account of the relevant provisions in the Commission Decision of 16 December 2013 amending Commission Decision of 28 April 2004 on the maximum duration of recourse to non-permanent staff (seven years over a twelve-year period).
