The Delegation of the European Union to Benin and the Government of Benin signed agreements launching three EU-funded programmes in Cotonou today.

The programmes, together worth around 47 million euros, will encourage competitiveness in Benin and in West Africa more broadly; give people in Benin better access to clean and sustainable energy; and help curb violent extremism to shore up peace in the country. These programmes are helping deliver on the Africa-EU Alliance, which aims to support the development of a vibrant business climate with quality jobs for its young people, and peace and security for all.
