Millenium Film Festival Debates: L'arbre Providence

During the upcoming weeks, The External Cooperation Infopoint will screen 5 high-quality, independent documentary films from the Millennium International Documentary Film Festival competition, taking place from 16 to 25 October in Brussels and online.

These films address some major challenges of our world and reflect DG DEVCO's efforts and ambitions for human and economic development, fighting poverty, hunger and preserving natural resources.

The External Cooperation InfoPoint will host the discussions around these films with their directors and the protagonists of the stories, together with DG DEVCO's representatives.

For this first appointment, Philippe Thomas, Head of Sector "Food and agricultural systems, Crisis and Resilience" in DG DEVCO C1 will moderate the discussion around the film in the presence of the director Michel Hellas, RTBF journalist and Bruno Devresse, one of the protagonists of this inspiring story.

“L'arbre Providence” is the story of the encounter between a man and a tree. The plantation of these trees, called fertilizers, in fields of coffee, cocoa, vegetables or cereals restores the soil in a few years. These practice lifts the peasants out of poverty and persuades them to stay in the village rather than seeking to emigrate.
