Fraud prevention

The European Anti-Fraud Office, OLAF, investigates fraud against the EU budget, corruption and serious misconduct within the European institutions, and develops anti-fraud policy. OLAF is part of the European Commission, but has operational independence. In the future, a proposed European Public Prosecutor's Office would have the authority to investigate and prosecute EU-fraud and other crimes.
