Policy background

An science and technology cooperation agreement was signed in 2003 within the political framework of the Euro-Mediterranean Barcelona process. The agreement promotes the opening of European Research Area and European research programmes to Moroccan participation.

At a regional level, Morocco is a member of the MOCO (Monitoring Committee for Euro-Mediterranean research and innovation) which brings together all EU and South Mediterranean countries to define strategic orientations for Euro-Med science and technology collaboration.

Funding opportunities

Horizon 2020 is the biggest EU research and innovation programme ever with nearly €80 billion of funding available over 7 years (2014 to 2020). It is open to the world, which means that participants from all over the world can participate in most calls. In many cases, the EU will fund at least partly the participation of the international partners.
