Why the EU supports industrial research

Key enabling technologies shape all sectors of the economy and society. They transform industry and the nature of work, and are central to any sustainable future.

To help industry and society succeed in this transition, the EU supports the mastering and deployment of these technologies.

The technologies supported by the NMBP part of H2020 are expected to strengthen the leadership of Europe’s industry, including its leadership in industrial sustainability. They also complement the other industrial leadership activities in the ICT and Space parts of Horizon 2020.
