Youth

Through its policies, the EU aims to give young people more equal opportunities in education and the job market, and to make sure they can participate fully in all areas of society. This is achieved through various means, notably by engaging in dialogue with young people and through the Erasmus+ programme.

Policies

  • Social inclusion

    The EU supports and complements national policies on social inclusion and social protection.

  • Youth employment and entrepreneurship

    The Commission promotes entrepreneurship, supports quality internships and apprenticeships and helps young people to work and train abroad.

  • Health and well-being of young people

    Promoting a healthy lifestyle and helping cooperation between schools, youth workers, health workers and sport organisations are Commission aims.

  • Participation in civil society

    The Commission supports the inclusion of young people in democracy and society, for example through dialogue with young people.

  • Voluntary activities

    The Commission promotes volunteering, as well as recognition of the skills volunteering promotes, to support employment.

  • Youth and the world

    The Commission encourages young people to take an active interest in the world and funds opportunities to work, volunteer and study outside the EU.
