João Pedro Matos Fernandes, born 12 December 1967 is Portugal’s Minister of the Environment.

Mr. Matos Fernandes is graduated in Civil Engineering by Oporto University and holds a Master degree on Transportation by Instituto Superior Técnico. He served as: President of the Governing Board of Águas do Porto (2014-2015); Advisor to the Governing Board of Terminais do Norte and Portos do Norte, Director of Port of Nacala (2012-2013); President of the Association of Portuguese Ports (2008-2010); Chairman of the Governing Board of Viana do Castelo Port (2009-2012) and Head of the Cabinet of the Secretary of State for Environment (1997-1999).
