Over €1,7 billion requested for Horizon 2020 Societal Challenges 6 projects
A total of 578 project proposals have been submitted by the deadline of the societal challenge 6 calls on 19 March. The deadline was extended by one week due to the outbreak of the new coronavirus COVID-19.
In total, €178 million are available for projects working on migration, socio-economic and cultural transformations stemming from the fourth industrial revolution, and governance for the future. The Research Executive Agency (REA) is in charge of 553 of the proposals received under these calls.
Projects will be selected for funding with the support of external independent evaluators drawn from the European Commission's experts database. Remote evaluations are expected to start on 20 April 2020, and the selection results will be known by mid-July 2020 at the latest. The grant agreements with the successful applicants will be signed by the end of November 2020.
