Commissioner Simson in Denmark to discuss European Energy policy
Energy Commissioner Kadri Simson visits Denmark on 6-7 February as part of the Commission’s effort to spread the word on the European Green Deal and engage with citizens and stakeholders. It will be her first official Member State visit.
Ahead of her visit, Commissioner Simson said: "Denmark is at the forefront of the EU’s clean energy transition and is an example for others to follow. I am looking forward to seeing the transformation of the energy sector in practice in Esbjerg and Avedøre. My visit will also be an opportunity to discuss the European Green Deal with civil society and stakeholders, and a chance to explore how innovative Danish “cleantech” can support further decarbonisation of the energy sector".
She will meet Dan Jørgensen, Minister for Climate, Energy and Utilities, as well as members of the Danish Parliament’s European Affairs Committee and the Committee for Climate and Energy. In addition, she will take part in a Citizens’ Dialogue with students at Aalborg University in Esbjerg.
During her stay, she will also visit the Horns Rev windmill park and witness the transformation of Esbjerg Harbour, and then on Friday visit the Avedøre Power Station, where a meeting with the Climate Change Partnership will take place.
