As part of the “New Deal for Consumers”, the Commission organised throughout 2018 a series of 'consumer dialogues' in the Member States using a country-by-country approach. The goal of the dialogues was to explain to people what the EU was doing for them as consumers and listened to their views on how the EU could better tackle their concerns. As a follow-up to these Consumer Dialogues, the 2018 Consumer Summit ("Les Assises des Consommateurs"), which had taken place on 28 November 2018, showcased the results of this outreach and offered the opportunity for debate and conclusions.
