About this initiative

EU rules prohibit national governments from placing restrictions on the geographical location of services for storing and processing non-personal data (e.g. cloud computing).

The goal is to create a single market for these services, enabling companies to choose a data service provider anywhere in Europe,

This proposal will provide guidance on how these rules interact with EU data protection rules, especially for datasets composed of both personal and non-personal data.
