About this consultation
All citizens and the wider community of stakeholders are welcome to express their views.
Why we are consulting
The consultation aims to collect as many views as possible on how the Water Framework Directive and the Floods Directive have respectively brought about changes to the sustainable management of water and improvement in the state of water bodies, and to the strategies to reduce the risk of flooding across the EU. The consultation will gather both general views from the public on their understanding and relation with water and more detailed information and opinions from national authorities, experts and private entities in charge of implementation on the specificities of the Directives. It is intended to also go beyond pure implementation and collect opinions on the functioning and interactions of the different Directives, as well as the costs and benefits that the different stakeholders attach to them.
