Working with the University in this TEW, secondary school students (max 10 per school) are invited to hear about translation as a career and about the University courses on offer. During the second part of the event, the students are given the opportunity to try translation for themselves in a hands-on workshop. Following the significant success of this format in 2019 we would like to make the opportunity available to other universities/areas in Ireland. Teachers and career guidance counsellors will also attend the event and are encouraged to act as multipliers – bringing language-related tips back to the classroom and encouraging language students to consider translation as a career.
