This stakeholder workshop was part of the public consultation to underpin the fitness check of the EU Ambient Air Quality Directives undertaken by the European Commission.
This fitness check was looking at the performance and evaluated the implementation of the two complementary EU Ambient Air Quality Directives (Directives 2008/50/EC and 2004/107/EC). These Directives set air quality standards and requirements to ensure that Member States adequately monitor and/or assess air quality on their territory, in a harmonised and comparable manner. The fitness check had also considered the corresponding Implementing Decision 2011/850/EC and Commission Directive EU/2015/1480.
The purpose of a public consultation in general and the stakeholder workshop in particular is to assist in gathering evidence, to confirm the issues for the evaluation and to solicit views on the performance and implementation of the EU Ambient Air Quality Directives. Your input to the workshop, along with input from other citizens and stakeholders, was taken into account in the evaluation.
The stakeholder workshop was attended by approximately 250 participants. Participants included national, regional and local governments, environmental and other public bodies, representatives of the business and trade organisations, civil society, international organisations, academia and the research community.
During the public consultation underpinning the fitness check of the EU Ambient Air Quality Directives, you had the opportunity to contribute by filling out an online questionnaire via EU Survey. Your responses to the questionnaire, along with those from other citizens and stakeholders, were taken into account in the evaluation.
A detailed agenda of the workshop is available below.
