Our Ocean 2019 will highlight the importance of knowledge as the basis of our actions and policies to ensure protection of our ocean, responsible management of marine resources and sustainable future economic growth.
The conference will bring together leaders from governments, businesses, civil society and research institutions to share their experience, identify solutions and commit to action for a clean, healthy and productive ocean
Our Ocean 2019 – The Ocean Tracker
The European Commission is proud to announce the Ocean Tracker.
The Our Ocean Tracker will officially be launched at the Our Ocean 2019 conference in Oslo, 23-24 October.
This tool helps keep track of the twelve billion euros plus, in commitments undertaken under the ‘Our Ocean’ process.
If you click on the dynamic map you can zoom in and see which governments, which businesses, which NGOS and individuals have made which commitment.
And you can see where they are in the journey from pledge to action to delivery.
When the European Union hosted Our Ocean in Malta in 2017 we were very clear that commitments would be followed through. Transparency means scrutiny which ensures credibility. That was our bottom line.
That is why we developed the Ocean Tracker tool. The Ocean Tracker was itself a commitment made by the European Union. I am happy that we are leading by example.
Now you can see how each ‘Our Ocean’ commitment is progressing.
Please explore and see how your country is doing and please share this tool with your ocean contacts.
This is how we turn each drop of action into a wave of change.
