The eighth high-level meeting of the EU Refining Forum took place on 25 April 2018 in Brussels. The overarching topic of the meeting was the clean energy transition and how the refining industry can contribute to it. Participants exchanged views on the national energy and climate plans, on the future of oil in the energy mix and the implications this will have on the car industry and the refining sector. The program included interventions by representatives from Member States, the Commission, the International Energy Agency, the refining and car industry and trade unions. The event concluded with a keynote speech delivered by Commissioner Miguel Arias Cañete.
The EU Refining Forum was established in 2013. The aim of the Forum is to provide an opportunity for the industry, EU countries, Members of the European Parliament, the Commission and other stakeholders to discuss planned and future regulatory proposals with potentially significant impacts on the EU oil refining industry and on the EU's security of supply of petroleum products.
