The annual Energy Infrastructure Forum is organised by the European Commission and takes place in Copenhagen, Denmark. Representatives of the EU institutions, transmission system operators, project promoters, regulators, energy companies, NGOs and civil society and the financing community meet to discuss the challenges of developing Europe’s energy infrastructure and building an internal energy market.
This year’s edition was opened by the European Commissioner for Climate Action and Energy, Miguel Arias Cañete, the Danish Minister for Energy, Utilities and Climate, Lars Chr. Lilleholt and Morten Helveg Petersen, Vice-Chair Industry, Research and Energy Committee, European Parliament. On the first day, the forum also hosted the Renewables Grid Initiative Award ceremony, which rewards outstanding projects in the field of communication, technology and environmental protection that foster increased public acceptance and trust in energy infrastructure.
