Citizens' Dialogue with Vice-President Andrus Ansip

You can watch it here

The digital single market is of vital importance for European SMEs, start-ups and consumers.

Vice-President Ansip engaged in a lively discussion with citizens, which was moderated by TV anchor and author Corinna Milborn. The dialogue centred on the achievements and challenges of the Commission's digital single market strategy.

The conversation focused on geoblocking, opportunities for SMEs and European start-ups, reform of authors' rights, the fight against disinformation and online hate-speech, and European Union investments in the digital economy.

Among the highlights is the emphasis on the European Union's role in building a true digital single market by ending geoblocking. This will enable consumers across the European Union to shop online in another EU member state.

The Vice-President also emphasised that the Commission is strengthening the taskforce against disinformation. He noted that the Member States need to closely cooperate and join in.

He also underlined that the European Union needs to take action on copyright and needs to make it possible for authors to get their fair remuneration. Otherwise we will not get any creative content.
