Le Pacte vert est la traduction européenne à l’objectif de devenir premier continent neutre en charbon sous un fondement soutenable, qui n’est pas qu’ambition politique, mais un programme concret
Executive Vice-President Frans Timmermans
On Friday 2 April, an online Citizens’ Dialogue event with EVP Timmermans took place in Grenoble, in the context of its event “Biennales des transitions” – an event which is held every 2 years in Grenoble to discuss all kind of transformations that could take place in our society.
The dialogue was between 13 young people, Mr Piolle, Mayor of the city of Grenoble, and EVP Timmermans, and took place in a friendly atmosphere, where both attendees and speakers were engaged and passionate about the topics discussed.
A total of 13 questions were asked to the speakers; those were prepared in advance in cooperation with the EDICs of the region Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes. The themes of social justice, climate emergency and the evidence-based need of fighting climate change were recurrent among the questions.
Young generations were very present in the debate – students from high schools and universities, as well as young professionals from the French region of Auvergne-Rhône-Alps (between 14 and 25 year old).
The total number of attendees was around 240 people. Attendees were not only from France, but also from Germany, Burkina Faso, China and Tunisia.
