citizen energy forum

The Citizens' Energy Forum was established in 2008, and meets annually to explore consumers' perspective and role in the EU energy market.

As with last year, the event is being organised by the European Commission in collaboration with the Commission for Regulation of Utilities (CRU), Ireland’s independent energy and water regulator.

The forum will focus on how to achieve a fair and inclusive energy transition for all, and discuss consumers’ role in the changing energy market, as well as their capacity to use the opportunities offered by new technologies. Other questions to be debated concern sustainable finance for energy efficiency and renewable energy production, and how to ensure that vulnerable consumers can also enjoy the benefits brought by a more efficient and flexible energy market. The second day includes a Citizens' dialogue withh youth on sustainable consumption.

Event attendance is on invitation only, but the plenary sessions will be web streamed. The participatory tool (event code #En4Cit) will be used for on-line polls accessible to the general public following the web-streamed sessions. To join, go to and enter the event code #En4Cit
