The Directorate-General for Informatics (DIGIT) is responsible for the management and co-ordination of information and telecommunication technology for the Commission's services and, in particular, for identifying, articulating and implementing a modern and dynamic corporate Information Technology vision and a strategy which is fully aligned with the Commission's overall priorities, in close cooperation with the IT governance structures DIGIT's mission is to deliver digital services to enable EU policies and to support the Commission's internal administration. DIGIT comprises five Directorates based in Luxembourg and Brussels with a workforce of some 500 staff.


Within the Directorate of Digital Services, unit DIGIT.D.1 - Data Services, based in Luxembourg and in Brussels, provides services, solutions, guidance and expertise in the areas of collaboration, content, data, information and knowledge management. Consequently, the Unit supports the operational and strategic activities of the European Commission, with the aim to improve efficiency through information and knowledge sharing, interoperability, integration and standardisation. The team in DIGIT.D.1 is composed of both Commission officials and contracted service providers.

We propose a job as Data Scientist for the delivery and evolution of corporate IT services, based on linked data techniques and semantic technologies, whilst maintaining a strong user focus. Within the Sector for Data, Information and Knowledge Management, the Data Scientist is responsible for the design, deployment and evolution of services to present, communicate and disseminate data in an open and interoperable way. The role is essential in the effective provision of IT software and scalable infrastructure components used in a multitude of Information Systems throughout the Commission.
