Economic Governance Review

With this new Communication, the Commission took stock of the changed circumstances for economic governance in the aftermath of the crisis and invited all stakeholders to present their views on how to enhance the effectiveness of the framework. The Communication proposed to structure the public debate around eleven questions. Eight of these questions were already included in the February 2020 Communication and are based on the experience with the governance framework prior to the COVID-19 outbreak. The two new questions are on the new challenges arising from the COVID-19 crisis and on the lessons learned from the Recovery and Resilience Facility.

Citizens, organisations and public authorities were invited to submit their contributions before 31 December 2021.

The aim of the public debate is to build a broad-based consensus on the way forward well in time for 2023.
