Regulation (EU) 913/2010, (EU) 1315/2013 and (EU) 1316/2013 - Acceleration/facilitation of the implementation of the Atlantic Corridor

Programme:

The project concerns Rail Freight Corridor (RFC) 4, Atlantic Corridor, between Portugal (Sines-Leixões), Spain (Algeciras-Madrid-Valladolid-Bilbao-Irun), France (Hendaye-Bordeaux-Paris-Le Havre-Metz-Strasbourg) and Germany (Saarbrücken-Mannheim).

 

It covers the following studies aiming at enhancing the competitiveness of rail freight transport along the Atlantic Corridor, in order to:

 

  • Identify strategic, management and operational measures
  • Assess the impact of the infrastructure constraints on railway undertaking  operations
  • Analyse the impact of Atlantic port development on international rail traffic, the potential and viability of railways on Atlantic Corridor and the optimization of capacity management and operational coordination

 


 

State of progress on 31 December 2014:
Four (Assessment impact of infrastructure constraints, Assessment optimization of capacity management, Coordination of paths and Implementation of contractual and operational framework) out of the six activities have started and are in progress.
