Doubling of the Prenestina-Lunghezza-Guidonia section: works

Programme:

The Action is part of a Global Project to double and upgrade the regional line FR2 between the stations of Rome Prenestina and Guidonia. The doubling has already been completed and is in operation between Rome Prenestina and Lunghezza.

In order to complete the Global Project, works will be carried out to complete the new stop of Ponte di Nona and to double the track between Lunghezza and Guidonia for a total length of about 10 km. The upgrade of the railway line will allow an increase of the maximum speed from the current 120 km/h to 140 km/h, and the axial load category will be upgraded from C3 to D4.

The action also includes the elimination of five level crossings along the route.

State of progress on 31 December 2014:
The Action is ongoing. The works to double the track on the Lunghezza to Guidonia section have started in 2014. The works at the Ponte di Nona stop will start in 2015.
