Rail 2012-DE-20012-S

INEA ceased operations on 31 March 2021. The European Climate, Infrastructure and Environment Executive Agency (CINEA) was established on 1 April 2021 to take over its legacy portfolio as well as additional EU funding programmes.

Planned activity for the unbundling of rail-bound traffics regarding the Fehmarn-Belt-Hinterland-Connection at the traffic junction Hamburg (TEN-T-Axis 20)

Programme:

The Action is a study for the preliminary and final design phases for the construction of a new track between Hamburg and Bad Oldesloe (Lübeck), parallel to the existing track, including the preparation of the necessary construction permission applications.

The proposed Action covers the southern part of the German access to the Fehmarn Belt Fixed Link and forms part of Priority Project 20.

The planned Fehmarn Belt Fixed Link will lead to the considerably higher use of the railway route Hamburg –Bad Oldesloe (Lübeck), making the existing railway route capacities between the marshalling yard Hamburg-Maschen and Lübeck insufficient for future dimensions of rail freight traffic. The construction of an additional track (and unbundling of the goods and passenger traffics to allow an increase of capacities) is a solution.

The action is closed.
