Pilot Project to promote the use of LNG fuel: Installation of 200 tons LNG tank and filling facility at the port of Hirtshals, Denmark for fuelling of passenger/cargo vessels with a view to later establishment of a larger tank at the port
The main aim of this project is the installation of a 200 tonne/500 m3 LNG (liquefied natural gas) storage tank and bunkering facility at the Port of Hirtshals in Denmark. It comprises the preparation of the design and the engineering of the LNG tank, preparation of an environmental survey, procurement of the tank and the equipment, the installation and the commissioning of the tank with the necessary approvals.
Successful implementation of this pilot project could lead to possible installation of a large scale storage/re-fuelling plant in Hirtshals and pave the way for a whole range of storage/re-fuelling plants. Ideally, LNG bunker/tanker vessel(s) would enable direct transport of LNG from the major LNG production facilities in the future.
The results of this project will be disseminated to the stakeholders.
