E6.21 Partihall Connection

Programme:

This project, linked to Priority Project 12 (Nordic Triangle railway/road axis) and situated in Gothenburg, concerns the construction of a road connection between E20 Ånäs and E6.21/E45/E20 Marieholm - including a new bridge, the necessary connections and interchanges to the existing road network.

The total length of the new bridge is 1130 metres, built with two traffic lanes in each direction. Two new interchanges with grade-separated intersections will be constructed at Marieholm and Ånäs.

The project will eliminate a bottleneck on a major European route, and eventually lead to a considerably better accessibility for long-distance and local traffic, as well as increased reliability, substantial improvements of the traffic safety situation, and reduced negative environmental impact for those living in the metropolitan area of Gothenburg.

The E6.21 Partihall Connection project is also closely related to the Motorways of the Sea initiative between Sweden, Denmark and Latvia, aiming at further developing an intermodal freight corridor with the ports of Gothenburg, Aarhus and Riga as main hubs.
