Sustainable multimodal transport chain

Programme:

This project aims at studying and testing two innovative approaches within the inland shipping sector that will lead to improved modal shift potential. The trials will consist of:

  • An innovative and highly efficient propulsion technology for inland shipping (wing propulsion) facilitating use of state of the art efficient and clean diesel, and diesel LNG multi fuel engines that go beyond those currently available for inland shipping;
  • A multimodal LNG fuel point that will strengthen the interconnectivity between inland waterways and road transport.
