Rail 2011-IT-93095-P

Treviglio-Brescia HS/HC section: civil works phase

Programme:

This Action is located along the Mediterranean Corridor and is part of the Global Project "Treviglio-Brescia high speed line", a crucial section along the Milano-Venezia railway line, strategically important for the development of sustainable mobility of persons and goods along the whole Corridor.

The Action covers the construction of two artificial tunnels along West Brescia interconnection - Lovernato I and A4 – respectively allowing rail traffic transit above the A35 "Milan-Bergamo-Brescia" motorway and underneath the A4 "Milano-Venice" motorway.

The Action will contribute to eliminating a bottleneck and will build a missing section along Mediterranean Corridor, thus significantly improving the capacity and speed of rail connections within the national and trans-European rail network, particularly between the East and West of Italy and the European Union. Moreover, it will contribute to reinforcing the capacity and efficiency of the railway infrastructure by improving the safety, interoperability and reliability of the rail network.
